The Groom's Planning Timeline         Print this page

Although the bride traditionally does all the planning, there are plans the groom is responsible for!

12 months prior -Work out basic budget with your fiancee and families, if contributing

10 months prior -Select your best man and groomsmen

6 months prior -Shop for wedding rings -Try on different tuxedo styles at a formalwear shop -Discuss with your fiancee potential honeymoon destinations and start planning possible itineraries

4 months prior -Book first night hotel, if applicable -Make honeymoon reservations -Have wedding party fitted for tuxedos and order or purchase any accessories such as cuff link, socks, shoes, etc.

2 months prior -Get fitted for formalwear -Get marriage license

1 month prior -Meet with groomsmen and ushers to assign wedding day duties -Pick up wedding rings and check engraving -Purchase bride’s gift

1 week prior -Confirm honeymoon arrangements -Start packing for honeymoon -Get cash for gratuities and write checks to pay vendors -Have final fitting for wedding party

Your Wedding Day -Eat a good breakfast -Volunteer for any last minute tasks -Relax
